Hemp Build Podcast: Ep. 01 Designing & Building Healthy Hemp Homes

This one-hour course explores the design, engineering, material science, and construction workflow behind a modern hempcrete home in Colorado with founders of Healthy Hemp Homes in Lakewood, CO. Through an in-depth case study with architect David Milburn, builder Eric Milburn, and carpenter/framer Tanner Bowman, participants learn how hemp-lime assemblies interface with conventional framing, how early-stage collaboration reduces risk, and how natural materials can improve building durability, indoor environmental quality, energy performance, and life-cycle carbon outcomes. The course also examines code adoption trends, permitting challenges, and how emerging prefabricated hempcrete systems are transforming constructability and climate resilience.
